What Is Energy Healing?
Energy healing is a broad term for complementary wellness practices that work with the concept of a biofield or subtle energy system associated with and surrounding the body. Practices such as Reiki, Healing Touch and Therapeutic Touch are often grouped within the research literature under the term biofield therapies.
The idea of working with vital energy is not new. For thousands of years, healing traditions around the world have described systems of energy using concepts such as qi, prana, meridians and chakras. While these traditional models are meaningful within their respective healing systems, modern science has not established chakras, meridians or the human biofield as anatomical structures or confirmed a specific mechanism by which energy healing works.
