Zooey Seraphine playing the violin on the beach

Zooey Seraphine, M.A.S.S., Musical Director

“Music gives a soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination and life to everything.” -Plato

Zulema Ibarra, is a professional musician, composer, and sonic therapist, with a background in cross-cultural studies and applied anthropology. She is known among the local musical community as Zooey Seraphine.

Zulema, a native of Mexico, immigrated to the United States, when she was 4 years old. She was immersed in music at a very early age, starting with piano, at the age of 6, and violin at the age of 14. While still in high school, she excelled in regional competitions and performed with symphonies and chamber groups in Southern California. She earned a scholarship to study music at La Sierra University, but opted, instead, to reconnect with her roots through her B.A. in cross-cultural studies.

She went on to obtain her Master’s Degree in Social Sciences, with an emphasis in applied anthropology, from Georgia Southern University. As an anthropologist, she developed a wellness education program for Latina migrant women experiencing interpersonal violence. Her research into mind-body medicine, and the time she spent with the strong and beautiful community of women she worked with inspired her to pursue more deeply her own journey of wellness. This led her to return to the music that had been such a source of healing throughout her life.

As a professional violinist and session musician, Zulema performs with numerous acts, composes music, and continues to research sound therapy and wellness, especially in relation to deep journeying and musical traditions from around the world. Sound is a powerful medium for the transference of energy, and so, she aims, with reverence and compassion in each note she plays, to step out of the way and give voice to the stories of the human spirit.

Shannon, Sarasota Massage Therapist at The OM Shoppe and Spa

Shannon Lamoureux, LMT

“Today is new. Today is yours. Just like you’d take care of a brand new gift, take care of this day because it is one.”

Shannon’s interest in the health field started when she was in high school. She was in the vocational program to be a certified nursing assistant and by the age of 17, she was working in nursing homes and assisted living homes (specifically for Alzheimer’s and dementia residents). She took a few interests after graduating high school, such as emergency medical technician (EMT) and then proceeded to college for nursing. Once she was in her second year, her view of health care started to change. Her interest were more into how can we assist the body on its way to healing, rather than traditional medicine (don’t get her wrong, it is a good way for those who need it, but she wanted to learn more about holistic healing).

Shannon graduated from Cortiva Institute of Massage Therapy – Boston, in December of 2014. Recently has moved to the area from New England and is looking forward to assist people on their journey to health and well-being. Shannon is very passionate about her work and has continued her education in neuromuscular therapy, some myofacial release, received her 200-hour Vinyasa Yoga teaching certificate from Health Yoga Life in Boston, and also has completed Reiki 1 and 2 certifications.

Shannon believes that wellness starts and ends with the clients. When first meeting her she will ask about health history in complete detail. Where are the aches/pains? Have there been any surgeries? See how the range of motion is in joints if that is an area to be focused on. Shannon loves working with people and cares about them. Because healing doesn’t stop once the treatment is over, she believes self care plays a vital roll in your treatment plans.

Schedule with Shannon today and benefit from her experience and intuitive touch.
